Solo Pianist & Vocalist

“Schneider has great control over, and feeling for, his instrument…” Michael Foster, The Canberra Times.

I perform both instrumental and with vocals depending on the event.

During my six years in London I was resident pianist at many of London’s top hotels, including the Savoy, the Dorchester, Claridges, and the Ivy Club, playing for guests including celebrities such as Sting, Russell Crowe, Kate Moss, Kofi Annan, Lionel Ritchie, Gordon Ramsay to name a few.

I have developed a huge repertoire of music including jazz standards, easy listening, pop, rock and roll, classical themes and more. I particularly enjoy piano bar entertaining, and delight in taking requests.

“And then you get Schneider’s vocals. He’s pitched closer to the Bobby Darin and Bobby Scott end of the scale with intonation and phrasing to match Sinatra’s” Chuck Hall – Jazz Action Society (NSW) newsletter

“Craig Schneider has fronted big bands for many years and it shows…Schneider’s voice does the trick…sharp arrangements – delivered with zest and snap…” Australian Financial Review

More and more often I am being invited perform as vocalist with Melbourne jazz groups and I relish the opportunity to step out from behind the piano.

Jazz Trio (and larger ensembles)

“Immensely talented, virtuoso performers…” Joel Taylor, Camden New Journal

“With Schneider in fine touch and voice and the rhythm men pacing impeccably, their bracket whizzed by before they departed accompanied by requests for more.”  The Canberra Times.

The Craig Schneider Trio has been featured at most of Australia’s major jazz festivals as well as appearing in venues in Australia and the UK including the Royal Albert Hall, 606 Club, Octave, Pizza Express, Bennetts Lane, Dizzy’s Jazz Club, Soup Plus, Canberra Southern Cross Club as well as regional jazz clubs. Performing a mixture of original compositions and jazz standards. The trio can easily be augmented to a quartet or quintet with saxophone and trumpet.

Big Band

Step back in time to the music and style of the 1940’s. Swing was king, and Craig Schneider’s Kings of Swing revive the memories of those glorious nights spent dancing to big bands. Think spats, hats and pinstripes, or elegant black tie and cocktails. And with a repertoire ranging from the classic swing of Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Duke Ellington, through the jump jive and R’n’B sounds of Louis Jordan and Louis Prima plus a healthy dose of the Rat Pack, Nat “King” Cole and  Bobby Darin, Craig Schneider’s Kings of Swing take the audience on a journey from the 40’s to today.

The band features a four-piece horn section (two saxophones, trumpet and trombone) and three-piece rhythm section featuring the cream of Melbourne’s musicians, providing a big, bright sound that immediately gets your toes tapping. Craig Schneider’s Kings of Swing performs my own arrangements of classic jazz and swing tunes as well as original compositions, lending a new and fresh sound to the classic repertoire.

We have performed in venues of all shapes and sizes, including town halls, jazz clubs, Australia’s Parliament House, historic buildings such as Somerset House and Old Billingsgate Market in London, and open air events in stadiums and parks for clients as diverse as Halifax, Accenture, Hewlett Packard, Stonnington Council, and Jazz at the Melbourne Zoo to name but a few.
